Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Colleagues,
we are pleased to announce the 95th Annual Meeting of the German Society of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. From May 8–11, 2024, this traditional and prestigious event will be held at Messe Essen, Germany, and promises to be an outstanding event for all otorhinolaryngologists, allied health professions, and everyone interested in our specialty.
Guided by our theme „Crossing Borders“, we invite you to experience and create an international, interdisciplinary and interactive event. Together with neighboring specialties, we develop innovative solutions and treatment concepts for our patients on a daily basis. This congress will focus on such collaborations by covering a wide range of interdisciplinary topics, including the latest developments in the field of head and neck oncology, skull base surgery, orbit, otology and cochlear implant care.
The opening ceremony will take place at the Philharmonie Essen on May 8, 2024, kicking off three days of knowledge transfer, networking, and inspiration. Here you will have the opportunity to learn from renowned experts from Germany as well abroad and to share your own experiences and insights with others. A varied and broad continuing education program as part of the Annual meeting of the German Academy of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology as well as extra courses for nurses and allied health professions complete the program.
We are proud to welcome participants from Germany and abroad here to the Ruhr area, not only to offer them an unforgettable professional experience, but also to give them the opportunity to experience the culture and history of the region.

Sehr geehrte Kongressteilnehmerinnen und Kongressteilnehmer,
ich freue mich, dass die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Hals-Nasen-Ohren-Heilkunde, Kopf- und Hals-Chirurgie (DGHNO-KHC) ihre 95. Jahreshauptversammlung in Essen austrägt und begrüße Sie im Herzen der Metropole Ruhr.
Unter dem Motto „Crossing Borders“ legt der Kongress in diesem Jahr seinen Fokus auf die internationale, interdisziplinäre und interaktive Vernetzung.
Nicht nur unsere Gesellschaft, auch die Medizin befindet sich in einem stetigen Wandel. So ist es unabdingbar dem Thema Vernetzung im Gesundheitssektor einen hohen Stellenwert zuzuschreiben. Die qualitative Weiterentwicklung des Gesundheitsbereichs stellt die Akteure sowie die Organisationsstrukturen aber auch vor große Herausforderungen. Daher sind Kongresse, wie die Jahreshauptversammlung der DGHNO-KHC, eine gute Gelegenheit Kontakte zu knüpfen und zu festigen und bieten ebenso einen Raum zum Austausch.
Für den Medizinstandort Essen ist der Kongress eine große Bereicherung und darüber hinaus wichtig für den medizinisch-wissenschaftlichen Dialog in NRW und in Deutschland.
Die „Gesundheitsstadt Essen“ zählt zu den Top-Medizinstandorten in Deutschland. Mit 14 Klinikstandorten, insgesamt rund 5.500 Betten und circa 1.300 niedergelassenen Ärztinnen und Ärzten ist sie der größte medizinische Versorger entlang der Ruhr. Jährlich werden in Essen etwa 750.000 Patientinnen und Patienten aus dem In- und Ausland ambulant und stationär behandelt. Wo, wenn nicht in Essen, wäre die Jahreshauptversammlung der DGHNO-KHC also besser platziert.
Im Namen der Stadt Essen danke ich Prof. Dr. med. Stephan Lang, dem Direktor der Klinik für Hals- Nasen- und Ohrenheilkunde am Universitätsklinikum Essen und Präsident der DGHNO-KHC e.V., für die Organisation und Federführung der 95. Jahreshauptversammlung in meiner Heimatstadt.
Der DGHNO-KHC e.V. und den Partnerinnen und Partnern des Kongresses danke ich für ihr Engagement.
